Why host?
Hosting is one of the fastest ways to turn acquaintances into friends. Remember those 50β200 hours from Making Friends? A girlsβ night gives everyone a few easy, happy hours together, and inviting people into your space is a big, warm signal that says I like you, I want you around.
It doesnβt have to be fancy. Some of the best girlsβ nights are four people on a couch in pyjamas, eating supermarket dip and screaming at a reality show.
A few hosting truths
- People remember how they felt, not what you served. Two-minute noodles with love beats a three-course meal served stressed.
- Accept help. If someone offers to bring something, say yes! βCould you bring a dessert?β makes guests feel part of it.
- Plan for the quiet person. An activity (nails, a game, a craft) gives shy guests something to do with their hands and an easy conversation starter.
- Itβs okay to set an end time. β7 till about 10!β in the invite saves everyone wondering when to leave.
