Find Your Walk

A week-long project - your walk in flats, your first steps in heels, and (if you like) a stroll out in the world.

Thereโ€™s no single โ€œfeminine walkโ€

Watch women in any shopping centre and youโ€™ll see a hundred different walks - brisk, bouncy, slinky, sporty. What most share is ease: upright, relaxed, unhurried, arms moving softly.

Common tweaks people find helpful:

  • Narrower stance - feet landing closer to a line than a wide, side-to-side stride.
  • Shorter steps, especially in skirts and heels.
  • Arms close and soft - swinging from the shoulder, elbows loose.
  • Lead from the chest, not the chin.

About heels

Heels are completely optional. Plenty of women never wear them. If youโ€™d like to, start low and stable, and build up slowly - your calves and the balls of your feet need time to adjust.
