Shampoo the scalp, condition the ends, test your porosity - the basics nobody explains.

The wash-day cheat sheet
- Brush or finger-detangle first (dry hair tangles less than wet).
- Wet thoroughly with warm (not hot) water.
- Shampoo the scalp only. A coin-sized amount, massage with fingertips (not nails). The suds rinsing through clean the lengths.
- Condition mid-lengths to ends. Leave it 2β3 minutes; comb through with a wide-tooth comb while itβs in.
- Rinse, finishing cooler if you like.
- Squeeze, donβt rub. Blot with a microfibre towel or an old cotton T-shirt.
How often?
As often as your scalp needs. Oily, fine, straight hair may like every day or two; curly and coily hair often prefers once or twice a week. In between, dry shampoo (Batiste, or a cheap supermarket one) is your friend.

π Look out for: Watch how the test works, then try it on a clean, product-free strand. Remember it's a rough guide - how your hair *behaves* (fast or slow drying, products sitting on top) matters more.

π Look out for: Notice where the shampoo goes (scalp) versus where the conditioner goes (mid-lengths and ends), and how gently he treats wet hair.
